Early Student Registration

Dear Fawn Families,

I hope the summer has proven to be a safe and happy one for you and your family. Since the start of another school year is just around the corner, we are sending this letter with important information regarding our early registration process.

You may have noticed that there have been work crews at our campus every day this summer working to improve our campus by reclaiming much needed space and replacing air conditioning units, cooling towers, electrical switches, and our roof.. Because of all of this work, we will be hosting early registration in our girls’ gym this year and will limit our staff and guests to the gym and adjoining hallway since the construction is not quite finished yet. Please remember that there is no incentive to arrive early and please, please be patient with our volunteers as we move everyone through our stations.

Deer Park Junior High will be hosting an early registration on August 7th from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.  Early registration will be a time when students will pick up their schedules, pay applicable fees, deposit lunch money (by cash or check), and receive important handouts and information.  If your student is unable to attend early registration, he or she will report to the Semmelmann Gym (Boy’s Gym) on the morning of August 21st  (first day of school).

All applicable student fees will need to be paid at early registration.  Checks for fees should include your driver’s license number, list your student’s name in the memo section, and be made payable to DPJH. If you choose to pay your student’s fees with cash, bringing the exact amount owed is greatly appreciated. Student fees for the 19-20 school year are assigned based on the student’s current course enrollment. Your student’s fees owed are available for your viewing in Skyward Family Access under the fee management link. This year you may also pay your student’s fees online through myschoolbucks.com. This is the same website that the district utilizes for school lunch accounts. If you choose to pay your student’s fees online, please bring a printed copy of your receipt to early registration.

Before our early registration process can begin, Deer Park ISD will again utilize Skyward Family Access to allow parents to verify and update contact, emergency, and health information for each child. This online portion of the registration process may either be completed at home, at DPJH, or at the DPISD Technology Building. Directions for completing online registration can be found on the district’s webpage at dpisd.org under the ‘Latest News’ heading. Upon completion of the online registration process, you will need to print the review and signature pages, and bring both of these pages to DPJH for early registration on August 7th. Please also remember to bring your printed receipt from myschoolbucks.com if you choose to pay your student’s fees online.

Texas Immunization Law requires that all incoming 7th graders show proof that they meet the minimum requirements for Texas School Children before entering the 7th grade.  If your student is an incoming 7th grader please make sure that he/she has had his/her booster shots and that you have given an updated shot record to the nurse. If you have not yet turned in the updated shot record, you may turn in a copy at early registration. All incoming 7th graders must have their updated shot records turned in to the school nurse by the first day of school on August 21st   . Typically, doctor’s offices and clinics run out of the required boosters in August and since 7thgraders may not attend school without this immunization, this presents a huge problem for families and schools. Please plan ahead.

We can’t wait to see our Fawns on August 7th! GO BIG RED!
